The Super Trackstick and the Tracking Key are similar passive GPS tracking devices. Both do not require a monthly fee for tracking.
The Super Trackstick is a discreet device that can be hidden in plain site because of its black features and removable magnetic mount/clip. It can be clipped to a bag, or placed discretely on a dashboard where it can communicate with GPS satellites. The data is then uploaded to a computer via a USB connection that’s attached to the device.
The Tracking Key also comes with a strong magnetic mount. The advantage in the Tracking Key is that it can be hidden underneath a vehicle and still receive a GPS signal. The device works similarly to the Super Trackstick in that the data is uploaded through a USB connection. The Tracking Key is accurate up to 2.5 meters, while the Super Trackstick varies because it records information constantly.
The battery life of the Super Trackstick is affected by the frequency of updates. If is is set to a shorter recording interval, the batteries will drain more quickly. The Tracking Key battery life is determined by how many hours it’s driven with the vehicle. The device has a built-in motion detector. When not moving, the battery does not operate and it saves battery life. It generally lasts about three weeks. The Super Trackstick battery life is even longer than the Tracking Key, with the potential for a month of use with pings taken every 15 minutes. It also has a vibration detector, and will power off the device if it senses no movement, and power on again when movement is resumed.
The Trackstick can be used with Google Earth, Google Maps, Microsoft Live and more, while the Tracking Key is only compatible with Google Maps.
The Super Trackstick is a great solution for private investigators, government organizations and concerned parents that want to view their kid’s driving habits.
